Pietro Cascella (1921-2008) held the distinguished title of Italy's foremost monumental marble sculptor, renowned for his semi-abstract style. This lamp holds a distinctive place within his body of work for two primary reasons: first, it serves a functional purpose, and second, it is crafted from wood. Functional principles, such as flexibility and adaptability, guided Cascella through the design process of the Pinocchio floor lamp (1972).
